Half Day Hike with Goats

Trek through Bears Ears National Monument to view Cliff Dwellings

  • 75 US dollars
  • Nizhoni Campground

Service Description

Join us for a half day hike to a secluded corner of Bears Ears National Monument! After meeting your guide and the goats, we will be hiking through forests and meadows to view one of Bears Ear's famed cliff dwellings. Along the way we will take in excellent views of the surrounding mountains, canyons and buttes, including the Bear's Ears themselves. As we hike we will be learning about goats and goat packing, as well as the history and archaeology of the Bears Ears area. This trek includes snacks and refreshments. The trek is relatively flat, and we will cover about three and a half miles. Unfortunately, small children can spook the goats so our hikes with goats are best suited for people fifteen and up. If you have small children in your group, please enquire about a custom hike without goats. We love animals, but due to safety concerns dogs and other pets are not permitted on goat hikes. Please note that we will not be entering the cliff dwellings, but viewing them from the bottom of the cliffs. Don't see a day or time that works for you? Contact us to inquire about availability!
